Jonathan Charles

Jonathan Charles is the Director of Communications at the EBRD (European Bank of Reconstruction and Development). Before starting this role in February 2011, Jonathan Charles was a journalist and presenter for BBC News.

Journalism career

Charles presented the BBC television news programmes BBC World News, BBC News, and World News Today.[1][2] He has also presented for BBC World News from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland,[3] as well as HARDtalk,[4] and BBC World Service programmes.[5]

Charles was a world affairs correspondent for the BBC,[6] reporting from many conflict zones, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Chechnya, as well as natural disasters, and the Beslan school siege.[1][7] During his career as a journalist, Charles was based in several countries including Belgium, France, Germany and the USA.[7]

Personal life

Charles is fluent in French and German[6] and was educated at the independent Nottingham High School and at Oxford University,[6] where he obtained a Master of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.[1][8]
